Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Finance Officer to join our team at Simeon Care for the Elderly for 30 hours per week.
This vital role involves managing financial operations to ensure the smooth running of our community services, aligning with our mission to provide compassionate care.
Responsibilities
* Financial Management: Oversee financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable and ensure accurate financial records are maintained
* Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports, budgets and forecasts to support decision -making processes
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations and internal policies and take the lead with audits, hold the principle point of contact for external auditors providing them with the necessary documentation and support
* Co-ordinate and lead in the preparation of the budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring expenditure, preparing monthly financial management accounts, balance sheets and cash flow statements and other periodic financial reports while maintaining appropriate financial controls and driving continuous improvement
* Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
* Prepare and present financial budgeting and forecasting reports, and present your finding to the GM and Board of Trustees
* Review and monitor expenditure and consider ways to reduce organisational costs
* Ensure financial systems are fit for purpose, are appropriately maintained and meet standards and legal requirements
* Responsibility for processing all outgoing payments in the banking system and to be the day to day contact for the bank
* Hold the principal point of contact for managing invoice queries for residents' fees and recharges, liaising with the local authority as required, ensure timely processing of invoices and oversee associated queries.
* Handle charitable donations, including gift aid and manage petty cash and reimbursement process requirements.
* Actively contribute to a culture of innovation, resourcefulness and best practice to make the best use of your time and others
* A degree of flexibility is required. You may occasionally need to perform work not specifically referred to above to support the operational needs of the business. The need to do such duties will be reasonable and as agreed between the post holder and the GM.
Qualifications
* A professional qualification in accounting or business administration or equivalent - Degree in Accounting desirable.
* PAYE
* Proficient in Microsoft Office
* Xero Accounting software
* Accounting for Specialised Transactions
* Financial Reporting and Analysis Cost Accounting
* Knowledge of charity or elder care sector regulations is advantageous.
* Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.
Knowledge & Experience
* Understanding and awareness of government policy and current business pressures in Health & Social care.
* Previous experience of financial accounting and support for a small business.
* Ability to work quickly and accurately
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Able to work autonomously and prioritise workload
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Good communication skills.
As this role involves working in an environment with vulnerable people a PVG certificate will be required. If you are not a member of the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme, you will be asked to apply for membership before you can work with us.
