Equans Sci-Tech is recruiting a Mechanical Design Engineer with a Building Services background who excels in a dynamic, project-based role.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be an integral member of our design team, supporting technical delivery across bid, design, installation and commissioning phases. The role will focus on design and technical support services for data centres, clean rooms, pharmaceutical and other mission‑critical projects.
What you will deliver
* Design, plan and coordinate mechanical services projects.
* Participate in regular design meetings with project teams, ensuring clear communication and effective management of design changes.
* Contribute to technical strategy development during bid and pre‑construction phase of projects.
* Provide engineering support to site teams by providing specialist design input to proactively resolve problems and support installation works to programme requirements.
* Be involved in successful project delivery as part of the team, with high quality design deliverables completed on time and to budget.
* Maintain thorough technical audit trails to document design reviews and approval by all stakeholder.
* Resolve installation and commissioning challenges efficiently.
* Delivery of designs in line with health and safety requirements.

Who are we looking for
* Recognised qualification in mechanical / building services engineering (e.g., BEng / MEng) or equivalent experience.
* Experienced in designing mechanical services aligned with relevant standards, guidance and client’s requirements.
* Collaborative team player able to deliver realistic programme for delivery of design to the requirements of internal and external stakeholders and project demands.
* With guidance, able to make effective decisions in consultation with project stakeholders and use judgement to escalate decision making process.
* Experience of undertaking the design of mechanical services, particularly for data centres, clean rooms, pharmaceutical and other mission‑critical projects.
* Experience of undertaking design at all stages of project lifecycle – pre‑construction, design and construction stage.
* Passionate about the industry and the willingness to progress.
* Experience of AutoCAD and Revit is desirable.
* Hevacomp / IES / Thermal Modelling experience is desirable.
