This role demands a professional with a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young people with various learning challenges, particularly those with Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), including both verbal and non-verbal individuals. Key Responsibilities: - Plan, prepare, and deliver tailored lesson plans that cater to the individual needs and abilities of each student, fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. - Utilize a range of strategies and teaching methods to engage students with various special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), emphasizing sensory and communication development. - Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students whilst setting achievable yet challenging goals. - Collaborate with other professionals, such as teaching assistants, therapists, and counselors, to ensure a holistic approach to each student's educational and developmental needs. - Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents and guardians, including providing regular feedback on their child's progress. - Manage classroom behavior effectively, promoting positive behaviors and a safe learning environment. - Stay current with best practices in special education teaching and continually develop professional skills. Essential Requirements: - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK. - Proven teaching experience in special needs education, specifically in a secondary school setting. - Demonstrable experience working with students with verbal and non-verbal Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). - A current Enhanced DBS Certificate on the update service, or willingness to apply for one. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with pupils, staff, and parents. - A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils. Desirable Qualities: - A patient, flexible, and resilient approach, with the capacity to handle challenging situations calmly and effectively. - An innovative and creative teaching style that can be adapted to the diverse needs of SEND pupils. - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
