About the recipient
Applicants wanted to work with a 15-year-old Nonverbal male with autism and learning difficulties.
They are very smiley and happy and enjoy spending time with others, both adult and peer wise. He is very sociable and enjoys meeting new people and interacting with them. Activity wise, this young person like outdoor play in particular liking swings. He Also enjoys cosy indoor activities such as watching CBeebies and other children’s shows.
This young person can display some mildly challenging behaviours so applicants will need to have experience of working with SEN. They must also be comfortable with delivering personal care. Due to gender a male worker would be preferred but not essential. Due to a location a driver is also preferred.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Encouraging the recipient to engage in activities.
1. Helping to improve their social skills.
2. Settling and supporting the individual.
3. Keeping them safe in the community.
4. Helping to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
5. Attending/transporting the individual to social activities and appointments.
6. Encouraging social interaction and inclusion and providing emotional support.
About the candidate
The suitable candidate must:
7. Be conscientious and committed to providing support as necessary for the child.
8. Be patient, caring and understanding.
9. Be able to build a positive relationship with the child to both encourage and support them.
10. Be flexible to meet the needs of the family.
11. Have knowledge of working with or supporting a child with special needs.
