Overview: We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled Autonomous Systems Platform Engineer to join a prominent Defence organisation. The role involves leading critical software and cyber security assurance tasks, particularly relating to autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and associated test planning and data security initiatives. The successful candidate will help advance innovative maritime technologies, supporting secure operations and software integrity within high-profile Defence projects. Location : Flexible Hybrid – Home & Abbey Wood, Bristol. Regular office attendance on Mondays with additional travel to Plymouth and Portsmouth 1-2 times monthly. Rate: Up to £550/day (Inside IR35, via an umbrella company) Contract Duration: ASAP – 31/03/2026 (Total of 110 days) Application Deadline: 16/06/2025, 17:00 Key Responsibilities: · Implement the CETUS Software Integrity Policy, ensuring 'secure by design' cyber security assurance. · Manage software-related CETUS safety hazards, particularly concerning remote and autonomous operations. · Develop and oversee CETUS autonomous operation test plans, including detailed evidence collection. · Devise and execute data security strategies for SCYLLA AUV equipment, including secure navigational data management. · Establish robust plans for conducting CETUS trials involving SECRET payloads or data. · Liaise with regulators and stakeholders to develop practical safety and security guidance for marine autonomous systems. · Provide general assistance to the project team, supporting efficient delivery of objectives. Essential Experience & Skills: · Proven experience as a software and cyber analyst with robust expertise in product security and cyber assurance. · Demonstrated capability to independently lead and advance software and cyber security tasks. · SC Clearance (dual nationality acceptable subject to country-specific approvals). Desirable Experience: · Application of 'secure by design' principles to products containing safety-critical software. · Experience in establishing trust in autonomous system operations.
