Job Title: Substance Misuse Nurse Location: Liverpool Employment Type: Contract (approx. 1 month with potential extension) Pay Rate: £35 Ltd per hour Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Start Date: Immediate Candidate Responsibilities as a Substance Misuse Nurse As a Substance Misuse Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality clinical care to individuals accessing substance misuse services. Your key responsibilities include: Conducting physical and mental health assessments and facilitating appropriate referrals to primary or secondary healthcare services. Completing alcohol assessments in line with Alcohol Policy to determine safe detoxification requirements. Assisting with opioid titration to achieve optimal Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) dosing, liaising with team members and community pharmacists. Providing education on health promotion and screening for blood-borne viruses (BBVs), including Hepatitis A/B vaccinations. Working within integrated care pathways for individuals infected with BBVs (Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV). Undertaking community alcohol and opioid detoxification at the service or in the service user’s home. Performing phlebotomy, interpreting blood results, and using findings to guide treatment decisions and referrals.
