PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To manage a team and provide leadership across all aspects of environmental compliance within the GRS Group. Work closely with senior leaders and duty holders across all the GRS Group of companies, to ensure standards and legal obligations are met, now and in the future. A visible presence on site and in the boardroom this role along with your team through innovation and inspiration to be the driving force to zero waste and zero carbon at GRS. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES The duties are many and varied, but the list below is considered to be the basic requirement: Be accountable for Environmental compliance regimes across GRS Group activities and worksites. Including: o Permit Management o Aggregate testing o Soil Sampling Hold and discharge Technical Competent Management (TCM) duties to comply with Environmental Permitting Regulations such as WAMITAB. Manage a team of specialists who assist GRS Group in day to activities. Manage our Carbon Reduction programme. Responsible for the maintaining and review of the Environmental management systems. Work with and hold external consultants and testing facilities to account on both quality and cost of work. Co-ordinate with external consultants regarding permit applications/variations, monitoring and planning. Carry out inspection as per set monitoring regime. Support Digital Waste Tracking implementation. Carry out site audits internally and externally. Provide advice, support and training across GRS Group. Represent GRS and work with various regulatory agencies. Undertake external training relevant to your role. Represent GRS Groups interest with external clients. Manage budget of team to include maintaining and replacing of onsite testing equipment. Interpret test, sample, and assessments to support GRS best interests. To keep up to date with all the latest legislation and industry changes. Support business with future opportunities. Responsibility for compliance and discharging legal duties with regards to HR and Health & Safety to promote a safe, equitable and legally compliant work place. KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB Essential- Experience of whole lifecycle of Permits, aggregates and soil testing. Essential - Hold a recognised Environment Qualification and associated Membership. Desirable - Hold COTC LS4 Landfill of Special/Hazardous Waste. Desirable - Hold COTC- TMS4 Treatment of Special/Hazardous Waste. Experience in Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001. Preferably Educated to a minimum of HND/Degree level.
