Managing Consultant – Net Zero - Heavy Industry
The Role
Due to significant growth in demand for our corporate GHG accounting, reporting, and emissions reduction services, there is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join our climate change consultancy team, focusing on the heavy industry sector.
The successful candidate will join our multidisciplinary team, supporting ERM’s client organizations on challenges related to energy and climate change, including:
* Accounting of greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1, 2, and 3), including developing inventories for heavy industry and hard-to-abate sectors aligned with industry best practices.
* Identifying GHG reduction opportunities and integrating them into strategic roadmaps for climate action.
* Reporting climate performance in sustainability reports and CDP disclosures.
* Embedding climate change within risk management frameworks and strategy planning.
* Conducting physical climate change and transition risk assessments, aligned with TCFD.
* Engaging and building governance capacity across organizational levels.
The role involves helping clients achieve their sustainability objectives and manage related risks effectively.
The team collaborates with other ERM practice areas, including sustainability strategy, impact assessment, due diligence, and risk management, to deliver value-added services to international clients.
Role and key responsibilities
As a Net Zero Managing Consultant, you will assist organizations in achieving net-zero emissions by providing strategic guidance, technical expertise, and innovative solutions. Projects include Net Zero strategy, GHG inventories, and decarbonization strategies. You will act as a project manager, leading teams, delivering proposals, and managing client relationships.
Responsibilities include analyzing carbon emissions, developing reduction roadmaps, preparing strategies, overseeing report and presentation preparation, and supporting proposal development for diverse sectors.
CORE SKILLS
Technical knowledge
* Relevant technical degree or 5+ years’ experience in environmental consulting or related fields.
* Experience in heavy industry sectors is advantageous.
* Strong knowledge of GHG accounting/reporting principles and methodologies (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi).
* Understanding of climate legislation, management systems, and economic analysis of GHG reductions.
Technical skills
* Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, with the ability to develop complex tools.
* Experience managing large projects and datasets, with excellent presentation and report-writing skills.
Soft skills
* Client-facing experience and strong communication skills.
* People management and mentoring abilities.
