We have a vacancy for a Care Navigator / Medical Receptionist at Shaftesbury Medical Centre Leeds LS9 & Church View Surgery LS15

We are a busy two site Practice and areseeking a reliable and experienced Care Navigator / Receptionist to join our friendly team.

We can offer 28.5 to 38 hours per week. Shifts will be split across bothof our surgeries in LS9 and LS15

Previous Primary Care / GP surgery experience is preferred but we will also consider applicants with relevant transferable skills.

We are seeking someone with goodinterpersonal skills who is able to work under pressure and as part of a teamof 10 receptionists dealing with all patient enquiries on the phone and in thesurgery and via digital online consultation requests from Patients.

Both surgeries are in modern purpose builtmedical centres and include facilities for rest areas and kitchen facilitieswith free hot drinks, microwaves and fridges. There is free parking on bothsites

Full training will be given to be competent in the role

We can offer between 28.5 to 38 Hours per week for this role

Interviews are likely to be on Tuesday 22nd, Wednesday 23rd and Tuesday 29th July


Main duties of the job

Being the 'face' of the Practice to thegeneral public, particularly patients, both in person and on the telephone

Answer calls

Care navigate patients tothe most appropriate service

Completing digital online consultation requests on behalf of the Patients for GP services

Booking Nursing appointments

Managing admin tasks

Registering new patients

Ensuring complete confidentiality whilst onreception

We have two purpose built modern medical centres sites

Shaftesbury Medical Centre, 78 Osmondthorpe Lane, Leeds LS9 9EF

Church View Surgery, Station Road, Leeds LS15 8BZ

You will be joining a well established and friendly team of 10 Receptionists supporting a team of 12 doctors and 7 nurses who serve a population of 18,000 patients

Salary up to £12.46 perhour dependant on experience for 28.5 to 38 hours a week

25 days (pro rata to full time) annual leave plus Bank Holidays

Job responsibilities

Reception

* Receivingpatients, consulting with members of practice team GPs, Nurses, Pharmacists, Physios, Admin
* Beable to cover all reception positions as necessary
* Takingmessages and passing on information
* Processingpersonal and telephone requests for appointments, telephone consultationsand ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcareprofessional
* Initiatingcontact with and responding to requests from patients, other team memberand associated healthcare agencies and providers
* Ensurethat telephone system is operational at the beginning of each day and switched overto night service and that the answer phone operational at the end of eachday

Appointment System and Digital Online Consultation requests from Patients

* Book/edit/cancelappointments and recalls ensuring sufficient information is recorded toretrieve medical record
* Dealwith home visit requests, carefully noting all details
* Arrangetransport to hospital appointments for housebound patients

Room Prep

* Clinical Rooms are checked at theend of each consulting session and left tidy and secure

Confidentiality

* Maintainconfidentiality of information, acting within the terms of the DataProtection Act and Caldicott guidance on patient confidentiality at alltimes
* Maintainan awareness of the Freedom of Information Act
* Informationrelating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or thebusiness of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons inaccordance with the Practice policies and procedures relating toconfidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data

Health & Safety

* Thepost-holder will manage their own and others health & safety andinfection control as defined in the Practices Health & Safety Policy,the Practice Health & Safety Manual, and the Practices InfectionControl Policy and published procedures.
* Complywith Practice health & safety policies by following agreed safeworking procedures
* Activelyreport health & safety hazards and infection hazards immediately
* Keepingwork and general areas clean and tidy, and using appropriate infectioncontrol procedures to keep work areas hygienic and safe fromcontamination.
* Awarenessand compliance with national standards of infection control, hygiene,regulatory / contractual / professional requirements, and good practiceguidelines.
* Correctpersonal use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensuring correctuse of PPE by others, advising on appropriate circumstances for use byclinicians, staff and patients.
* Reportingincidents using the organisations Incident Reporting System
* Usingpersonal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines
* Makingeffective use of training to update knowledge and skills


Person Specification


Experience

* Previous experience of working in a busy reception team
* Calm and sympathetic manner to patients
* Working well under pressure within a team
* Confidentiality and discretion
* Awareness of Data Protection
* Experience of working within General Practice
* Experience of using SystmOne
