Tony Gee is seeking a CAD Manager to provide technical leadership in CAD systems, technical drawing, and modelling across the business.
Supporting our Infrastructure sectors across the UK, you will work with multi-disciplinary teams to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality in design deliverables, ensuring they align with client, project, and industry standards.
As CAD Manager, you will play a key role in integrating with project leadership teams and ensuring adherence to company and client standards. You will also bring together technician networks, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and skills development across the business
Responsibilities
* Development and implementation of a UK-wide strategy to enhance CAD quality and efficiency.
* Establish and maintain CAD standards, workflows, and best practices, ensuring consistency across UK projects.
* Conduct audits, technical reviews, and compliance checks to support project teams.
* Identify and implement process improvements, driving efficiency and technical quality.
* Mentor and support technicians, promoting skills development and best practices.
* Report to senior leadership on CAD quality, efficiency, and skills development.
* Work with innovation teams to assess and implement emerging CAD technologies and automation solutions.
Experience
* Extensive experience in CAD delivery, technical drawing, and modelling.
* Strong technical knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and other CAD software.
* Experience in developing and implementing CAD standards across projects.
* Familiarity with Common Data Environments (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM360, ProjectWise).
* Experience mentoring technicians and improving CAD capability in teams.
* Strong collaboration skills, engaging with technicians, engineers, BIM specialists, and project leaders.
* Clear communicator, experienced in training, mentoring, and technical leadership.
* Working to client CAD standards (e.g., National Highways GG184).
* Highways or power sector experience.
* Automation or scripting skills (e.g., Dynamo, AutoLISP, Python, VBA).
* Achieved or working towards a professional qualification.
* Motivated and capable of driving self-development.
* Clear and effective communication skills.
* Strong time management and organisational skills.
* Comfortable delivering presentations and training.
* Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
