Electrical Technician Location: Rotherham (75% based at Head Office with regular travel across the UK)
Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 dependent on experience

Travis Talent is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and forward-thinking engineering business based in Rotherham, who are looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Technician to join their growing team.

The role would suit someone with a background in control panel wiring, prototype assembly or electro-mechanical build work who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment.
About the Role As an Electrical Technician, youll play a key role in the design, build, and installation of high-quality electrical and control systems for customers across a wide range of industries.
Youll work both in the workshop and on-site, assembling bespoke panels, instrument racks, and associated control equipment.
Typical duties include:
Assembling electrical control panels and 19" rack systems from drawings and schematics
Wiring harnesses, looms, and control units to precise specifications
Carrying out mechanical build work, including aluminium frame assemblies
Conducting functional testing and electrical continuity checks
Performing electrical installations on-site (single and three-phase) and routing/dressing cabling
Completing build and test documentation, including site visit reports, RAMS, and modification records
Supporting smooth workshop operations, maintaining stock accuracy and quality standards
About You Were looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and can work flexibly on varied, bespoke projects. Youll be comfortable reading and interpreting technical drawings, solving problems on the spot, and adapting your approach depending on the build.
Essential requirements:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installations / Electrical Maintenance
18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations qualification
Experience in control panel or prototype electrical builds
Confident interpreting schematics and updating/redlining technical drawings
Skilled in wiring 3-phase, LV power, ELV control, PLC and communication bus systems
Practical experience of on-site installation work, including planning and quality control
Strong IT skills, ideally with experience using Microsoft Teams and electronic documentation
Sound understanding of the Electricity at Work Regulations and safe working practices
Desirable qualifications:
AM2 / ECS Card / City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Test)
PASMA or IPAF certification for working at height
Experience with PLC-based control hardware (e.g. Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.)
Familiarity with EPLAN or similar electrical design software
Key Competencies Able to work independently or as part of a wider installation team
Strong communication skills with customers, colleagues, and suppliers
Excellent organisation and time management to meet project deadlines
Commitment to high standards of quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Additional Information Primarily workshop-based in Rotherham with regular travel to customer sites across the UK (occasional overseas trips may be required with notice)
