Role Summary
Ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment and promote, maintain and monitor standards in accordance with the NMC/HCPC and CQC guidelines.
As an anaesthetic practitioner, you will be responsible for helping and offering support for patients undergoing surgery. You will support the team to prepare a wide range of specialist equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, intravenous equipment and devices that safely secure the patient's airway during anesthesia.
In the multidisciplinary theatre team you will have ongoing responsibility for supporting colleagues in the day‑to‑day management of the unit, ensuring a safe delivery of care and smooth patient flow.
You will devise, implement and assess individualised care plans for a wide and diverse patient group, and promote best evidence‑based practice. When the Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner is absent you will supervise junior colleagues and unqualified members of the team, ensuring all staff provide the highest standard of care.
Qualifications & Experience
To practice this role you must be an Operating Department Practitioner registered with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) OR a NMC registered nurse with an appropriate accredited postgraduate anaesthetic module/course.
You must be motivated and enthusiastic with a passion for high quality patient care, able to work well under pressure and flexibly as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. You will function effectively as a member of the peri‑operative team to ensure an efficient and high‑quality anaesthesia service.

Recruitment Process & Policies
Applications will be transferred to the TRAC system; by completing an application you authorise the transfer of your data. Correspondence regarding your application will be sent via a TRAC system account.
In submitting an application, you authorise the Trust to confirm previous NHS service details via the Electronic Staff Record (ESR) Inter‑Authority Transfer (IAT) process, including factual reference, occupational health clearance and statutory and mandatory training records.
Sprieting a disclosure and barring service (DBS) check is a requirement of the role. Candidates will be liable to repay the cost of a DBS check (£49.50) if not current; the Trust provides a DBS update service at £16 annually. New employees who do not join the update service will need to pay £49.50 for a new DBS check in three years.
New starters are subject to a six‑month probationary period.
