Music Technician at Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre
Are you passionate about music technology and eager to inspire the next generation of performers and producers? Highdown School and Sixth Form Centre is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Music Technician to support our vibrant Music Department. This part-time (20 hours per week), permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a creative environment, assisting in delivering outstanding lessons and performances while maintaining our excellent music facilities.
Working closely with the Head of Music, you will support both academic and co-curricular activities, including providing technical support in lessons, guiding students through music technology coursework using Cubase, setting up live events, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety standards are met. This role is ideal for someone passionate about music technology and education, who enjoys hands-on work and thrives in a collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical support during lessons and co-curricular activities
* Assist students with music technology coursework, particularly using Cubase
* Set up and operate PA systems for live performances and rehearsals
* Maintain and repair musical and technical equipment
* Install and update software, including VST instruments
* Ensure a safe working environment for staff and students
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience with multi-track recording and sequencing, ideally using Cubase or similar software
* Confidence in setting up and operating PA systems
* Practical skills in maintaining and repairing musical and technical equipment
* Knowledge of software installation, including VST instruments
* Flexible, conscientious, and collaborative attitude
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
* GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
* Relevant qualification in music technology or production and experience in an educational setting are desirable.
