We’re hiring: HSW Coordinator – Marine & Tunnelling | Avonmouth Are you passionate about driving safety, wellbeing and compliance in major infrastructure environments? We're looking for an HSW Coordinator to join our Marine and Tunnelling team at Avonmouth, supporting one of the UK’s most complex and vital construction programmes: Sizewell C. As part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), you’ll play a key role in embedding a proactive safety culture across design and construction activities. You’ll help ensure that legal, regulatory, and internal HSW standards are not just met—but exceeded—throughout the lifecycle of our marine and tunnelling works. Your role and impact: Carry out regular site inspections and pre-work safety reviews Lead and support incident investigations and promote learning culture Deliver and support HSW training sessions (e.g. site inductions, Setting to Work, OH, PVM, Just Culture) Review and update project documentation in line with ISO standards Monitor compliance with the Behavioural Safety Programme (Make Safety Personal) Share key safety communications—alerts, cascades, and close-call learnings Collaborate with site teams to promote Zero Harm and improve risk management Support SLT and project teams with safety leadership activities and campaigns Review and advise on RAMS, Work Package Plans, and risk assessments What you’ll bring: Essential: NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) Strong understanding of UK HSW legislation and application Proven experience in a HSW advisory role, preferably within large construction or infrastructure projects Confidence in delivering HSW briefings, inductions and training Skilled in conducting and supporting investigations and incident reviews Ability to influence and drive a positive safety culture across diverse teams Desirable: NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 5 in Occupational Health & Safety Internal Auditor qualification (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001) CDM 2015 awareness – roles and responsibilities CSCS card, Personal Track Safety (PTS) Environmental or sustainability qualification CMIOSH or actively working towards chartered status You’ll be joining a team that is shaping the future of sustainable energy in the UK.
