Neway International are seeking a Flying Start Senior Childcare Workers to join our client based with Vale of Glamorgan Council. Location: Gladstone Road, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, CF63 1NH Hours: 35 hours per week (8:30am–4:00pm), term‑time only Start Date: 23 February 2026 Duration: 18 weeks - extended after review Rate: PAYE: £109.69 per day About the Client Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Flying Start programme delivers high‑quality early years childcare and family support for children aged 2–3. The service works closely with parents, childcare teams, and multi‑agency professionals to promote children’s development, wellbeing, and school readiness within a regulated CIW environment. The Role The Senior Childcare Worker will support the delivery of high‑quality childcare within Flying Start settings, acting as deputy to the Childcare Leader and leading planning, staff coordination, and developmental activities. The role includes key worker responsibilities, liaison with parents and professionals, and ensuring CIW standards are consistently met. Key Responsibilities Provide full deputy support to the Childcare Leader in their absence Lead and facilitate planning meetings to ensure age‑appropriate developmental activities Develop weekly staff rotas aligned with children’s routines Support termly transition sessions for children and parents Act as a key worker, completing assessments and meeting individual needs Liaise with parents and professionals regarding care plans, development, and wellbeing Maintain confidentiality and uphold CIW regulated childcare standards Participate in training and maintain ongoing CPD Work flexibly across Flying Start childcare settings when required Maintain professional working relationships with partner agencies Ensure compliance with Council policies, financial regulations, and safeguarding procedures Take annual leave during school holidays only Candidate Requirements Level 4 qualification in Children’s Care, Learning, Play and Development (CCLPD – Advanced Practitioner) Experience working with children under 3 in a regulated Early Years setting Strong understanding of child development and CIW standards Ability to lead planning, coordinate staff, and support team delivery Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills Flexible, reliable, and able to work across multiple settings Enhanced DBS covering both barred lists (required under Flying Start) Two references (one from most recent employer; one personal) Ability to explain any gaps in employment Welsh language skills desirable but not essential
