Tribunal and Complaints Officer – SEND
Location: Liverpool
Hours: 35 hours per week
Rate: £55.16 per hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid working – 1 day per week on site
Contract: Interim / short-term assignment
Reducing the number of SEND complaints and tribunals is a corporate priority. We are seeking an experienced Tribunal and Complaints Officer to provide interim, specialist support to help clear a backlog of complaints and tribunal cases within SEND.
This role is a short-term interim post, providing additional capacity and expertise. It is not anticipated to become a long-term or permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing and progressing SEND complaints and tribunal cases
2. Supporting the resolution of complex complaints in line with statutory guidance
3. Preparing documentation and evidence for tribunal proceedings
4. Working closely with internal teams, legal services and external partners
5. Contributing to the reduction of complaint and tribunal backlogs
6. Ensuring compliance with SEND legislation and best practice
Essential Requirements:
7. Proven track record in SEND complaints and tribunal processes
8. Strong working knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory guidance
9. Ability to manage complex casework independently and to deadlines
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
11. Experience working in a local authority or similar setting
