An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bridges Manager to come and join a busy client in the North West to lead on the inspection, maintenance, and improvement of the local authority's bridges and related highway structures. The main duties of the experienced Bridges Manager are: Plan and manage structural maintenance and improvement schemes, including bridge strengthening, refurbishments, and replacements. Prepare and monitor budgets for bridges and structures works, ensuring cost-effective procurement and project delivery. Lead internal teams and manage external consultants/contractors to deliver inspection, design, and construction services. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and guidance (e.g., CDM Regulations, Highways Act, Eurocodes). Champion health, safety, and environmental standards across all activities. Develop, maintain, and implement the Bridge Asset Management Plan. Maintain accurate records of all structures using appropriate asset management systems (e.g., WDM, Confirm, etc.). Experience and qualifications needed for the role: Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field. Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it (ICE, IStructE, or equivalent). Demonstrable experience in the inspection, maintenance, and management of highway structures. Knowledge of bridge assessment and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MIDAS, LUSAS).
