Job Description
Apex Education Recruitment are seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join the Additional Resource Provision (ARP) of a welcoming Primary School in Romford. The ARP supports children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and we are looking for someone who brings patience, creativity, and genuine enthusiasm to the role.
To start as soon as possible – Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 3.30pm (Term time only)
Special Need Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
* Supporting children with ASD within the ARP
* Using a proactive, fun and engaging approach to learning
* Being firm but fair, helping children understand routines and expectations
* Assisting with sensory activities, regulation strategies and learning tasks
* Delivering structured interventions such as Lego Therapy
* Working closely with teachers and SENCO
* Helping children build confidence, independence and communication skills
We would love to hear from you if you are:
* Caring, calm and patient, with a positive attitude
* A great team player who communicates well with staff and children
* Able to build trust and encourage progress
* Experienced in working with children with ASD or other SEN needs
* Familiar with Lego Therapy and sensory-based support (desirable)
* Comfortable supporting behaviour in a nurturing but structured way
