Job Description:
The Health and Safety Facilities Officer will be responsible for reviewing, developing, implementing, and monitoring the site's health and safety management systems to ensure the wellbeing of staff, visitors, and contractors. Additionally, the role will support facility-related activities at the Manchester site.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Support the site in achieving excellent environmental, health & safety (EHS) standards through management systems and continuous improvements.
* Assist in preparing corporate EHS assessments and management plans.
* Support with customer & corporate ESG group requests for information.
* Follow up with line managers for incident investigations, near miss reports, etc.
* Assist with developing EHS communications and training content.
* Support internal audits for ISO9001, ISO13485 & H&S compliance.
* Maintain H&S Notice Boards with relevant information.
* Provide updates on health & safety KPI data (accidents, incidents, near misses).
* Assist with writing SOPs and providing guidance on risk assessments.
* Help in preparing health & safety training for new starters.
* Participate in monthly health & safety meetings as part of the H&S committee.
* Serve as the point of contact (POC) for facility maintenance issues.
* Support the manufacturing leadership team with initial POC for power outages, weather hazards, spills, plumbing issues, or incidents, in line with site BCP.
* Organize and liaise with contractors for repairs and site security as needed.
* Conduct fire drills and maintain the fire marshal list.
* Assist with facility/layout changes required by site leadership.
* Organize first aid training for staff according to legislation.
What You’ll Bring
* A recognized qualification in health and safety, such as ISOH Managing Safely.
* Experience working within ISO 9001 Quality Assurance and ISO 13485 for Medical Devices.
* Awareness of training, auditing, compliance, and health & safety, with a desire to progress.
* Experience working with data and presenting it in various formats.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
* Experience working with diverse stakeholders.
* Driven and capable of completing tasks independently.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-motivated with clear EH&S objectives.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
