SJK Healthcare Recruitment are recruiting experienced Ward Clerks for our Client working with the NHS
Overview
To provide essential clerical and administrative support to the ward team, ensuring the smooth running of the ward and contributing to high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
* Administrative Duties:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records (electronic and paper).
o Prepare admission and discharge documentation.
o File, photocopy, and manage patient case notes.
o Book outpatient appointments and transport as required.
o Order and maintain ward supplies and stationery.
o Liaise with medical records and other departments.
* Reception & Communication:
o Meet and greet patients, visitors, and staff.
o Answer telephone calls and relay messages accurately.
o Provide a friendly and professional reception service.
o Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
o Maintain confidentiality at all times.
* Ward Support:
o Update ward bed boards and staff boards.
o Assist with patient property and valuables management.
o Arrange repair or replacement of ward equipment.
o Support nursing staff with non-clinical tasks (e.g., making beds, serving meals).
Essential: Skills & Experience Required
* Good general education (GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths).
* Basic computer and keyboard skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Polite, calm, and helpful manner.
* Attention to detail and good organisational skills.
Essential
* Previous NHS or clerical experience.
* Familiarity with NHS systems (e.g., TRAK, PECOS).
* Experience in ordering supplies and using spreadsheets.
Working Conditions
* Office-based within a hospital ward.
* Exposure to emotional situations (e.g., distressed patients or relatives).
* Occasional verbal aggression.
* Frequent use of computers and handling of medical records.
