Do you thrive when helping a child make progress they once thought impossible?
Could you bring calm, structure, and positivity to a pupil who needs extra support?
Are you ready to use your empathy and initiative to make a genuine difference each day?
We’re looking for a dedicated and caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a primary pupil who needs additional support in class. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for helping children with additional needs reach their full potential.
About the Role
You’ll work alongside the class teacher to:
Provide 1:1 learning and pastoral support that helps your pupil engage fully in lessons
Prepare and adapt resources to make learning accessible and enjoyable
Assist with planning and delivery of lessons, both in class and through individual activities
Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction, and emotional wellbeing
Observe and share progress, offering feedback to teachers to support next steps in learning
You may also assist the wider class group as needed, supporting inclusion and collaboration within the classroom.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants with prior school-based experience or those who bring relevant transferable skills from roles in care, youth work, or similar settings.
You should be able to:
Build supportive, trusting relationships with children
Communicate clearly with both pupils and staff
Work collaboratively as part of a team
Show empathy, patience, and a flexible approach to meeting individual needs
Remain calm and positive under pressure
A Teaching Assistant qualification or experience supporting pupils with SEND would be an advantage but is not essential.
Why Apply?
This is a rewarding opportunity to:
Make a lasting impact on a child’s learning journey
Develop your skills in a supportive, collaborative environment
Access ongoing training and opportunities for career progression
Be part of a team that values inclusion, positivity, and care for every pupil
