Senior manager Cyber Security
Location: Sheffield / London / Hybrid Working
(Expectation that you will attend an office 2 days per week)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week/flexible days and/or hours (Mon-Fri)
Salary: Up to £65,000 (Sheffield) / £77,500 (London) depending on experience
THE ROLE
As Cyber Security Senior Manager, you will lead and mature the Bank’s cyber defence capability, ensuring resilience against current and emerging threats. You will directly manage a team of cyber security analysts and provide operational oversight of an external Managed Security Service Provider delivering 24/7 Security Operations Centre services. You will ensure effective detection, response and continuous improvement across proactive monitoring, incident response, threat intelligence and vulnerability management, aligning cyber defence operations with business risk and regulatory requirements.
You will own and lead enterprise-wide cyber defence operations, maintaining effective controls, comprehensive monitoring coverage, alert triage and escalation, investigation and coordinated incident response. You will oversee the integration and optimisation of SIEM, EDR/XDR, DLP and cloud security platforms, embedding automation and efficiency where appropriate. You will direct intelligence-led threat hunting and proactive defence activities, ensuring they deliver measurable risk reduction.
You will line manage cyber security analysts, setting clear objectives and performance standards, conducting performance reviews and supporting development and succession planning. You will provide clear operational leadership, setting priorities and governing third-party MSSP performance to ensure service quality and risk alignment.
You will bring proven experience managing cyber security operations or SOC functions, with demonstrable knowledge of incident response, SIEM, EDR/XDR and SOC processes. You will have experience overseeing MSSP providers, engaging stakeholders and translating technical issues into business terms. Experience in project delivery, risk management, supplier negotiation, cloud security controls, automation use case development and large-scale incident response is expected.
You will be calm and decisive under pressure, pragmatic in your risk-based decision making, collaborative in approach and focused on continuous improvement.
