Electrical Design Engineer Permanent Crawley, West Sussex Hybrid 4 days onsite, 1 WFH Salary up to £65k We're supporting a leading organisation within the aircraft simulation sector, seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team in Crawley. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge flight simulation systems, contributing to the design and development of complex, safety-critical hardware solutions used across the aerospace industry. The Role As an Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in the end-to-end development of electrical hardware systems, working within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment. You will: • Design and develop electrical hardware solutions for advanced flight simulators • Produce technical specifications, schematics, and electrical designs • Support system integration across electrical, mechanical, and software domains • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement of simulation technologies • Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and safety-critical requirements • Conduct testing, validation, and fault-finding activities • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Systems, Software, and Project Engineering • Engage with suppliers and external partners to support component selection and integration • Support delivery of projects to time, cost, and quality targets • (Where appropriate) provide technical guidance or mentoring to junior engineers Skills & Experience Required • Proven experience in an Electrical Design Engineer position, ideally within aerospace, defence, simulation, or complex engineering environments • Strong experience with electrical CAD tools (schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts) • Experience designing single-phase and three-phase power distribution systems, including: o Cable sizing o Protection coordination o Switchgear selection • Understanding of EMC principles, including: o Grounding, shielding, and filtering o Cable segregation o Exposure to EMC testing/validation • Experience with system-level electrical integration, including: o Rack/panel power distribution o Cooling considerations o High-density cabling • Familiarity with 3D CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo/Pro-E) • Knowledge of relevant standards, including: o BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) o Low Voltage Directive (LVD) o EMC Directive • Experience working within a structured/gated design lifecycle (concept through to production) • Strong testing, validation, and troubleshooting capability Desirable • Experience within flight simulation or training systems • Exposure to aerospace or defence standards/regulations • Experience working in safety-critical environments Why Apply? • Work on highly complex, real-world aerospace systems • Be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering team • Opportunity to contribute to innovative simulation technologies • Hybrid working with a strong engineering-led culture
