At CMS2, we specialise in the design and manufacture of atmospheric control systems for the defence industry. We are experts in enabling high availability atmosphere management systems to generate breathable air for submariners, allowing boats to remain underwater for long periods of time. We do this by combining over sixty years of expertise with the latest technology and processes to design, build and support high quality systems and solutions. CMS2 is part of a wider group (Science Group). Science Group is a science & technology business providing consultancy and systems to an international client base.

The Role

This Quality Engineer position sits within our bespoke engineering solutions side of the business, where we develop life-support systems in critical workspace, oxygen and carbon capture-based solutions, water purification, rugged electronics for harsh environments and precision engineering of high-integrity equipment.

We are looking for this Quality Engineer to work alongside the project team to advise and implement customer required quality requirements. This will involve working with the manufacturing team as well as the supply chain to ensure customer quality flow downs are implemented, monitored, and controlled. As part of your role, you will drive product and process non-conformance investigations and associated root cause analysis activities including concession management and customer reporting requirements are met.

About You

To deliver this role you will be required to have the following:

* Experience as a Quality Engineer or in a similar role.
* Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
* Conduct supplier quality control audits on a regular basis to ensure supplies remain in compliance with company and manufacturing and production standards.
* Communicate with suppliers regularly to address any concerns and foster an environment that facilitates continual improvement in working relationships.
* Must be able to travel.
* Providing technical advice and guidance to suppliers to reduce defect rates.
* Serving as a liaison between our company's Quality and supply chain teams and the suppliers to identify quality issues and produce solutions.
* Demonstratable knowledge of document control and organisational skills.
* Strong verbal communication, technical writing, and process improvement skills
* Experience of working within a military / defence environment.
* Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of Quality Assurance, manufacturing, distribution, and environmental systems.
* Strong technical skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Excellent analytical skills
* Highly developed attention to detail
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to work well in a team environment.

In return you will be joining a company who are growing and looking to provide you with the opportunity to develop your career. We will support you in expanding your knowledge, skills and experience and the team around you.

We will offer a highly competitive salary and benefits package, these include profit share scheme, company pension scheme, group income protection scheme, 4 x Life Assurance, employee assistance programme and Cycle to Work scheme.

If you are interested in applying for this role, you must meet the requirements to pass a BPSS check as well as undergo a security clearance (SC) check. To complete this, you must have an existing right to live and work in the UK. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency.
