What you’ll be doing
1. Operates as an SME within own field of expertise, guiding cloud system design activities and/or system designs to assure that solutions will exhibit expected levels of performance, security, scalability, security, maintainability, appropriate reusability and reliability upon deployment
2. Leads the automation of cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, self-service, infrastructure-as-code services, auto scale initiatives, and DevOps deployment
3. To contribute to the architecture, development and implementation of software-based systems hosted in public cloud.
4. Ensure compliance with security, IT policy and legislation across all TV OSS services built.
5. Work with platform architects to make the right technology choices that provide platform solutions that meet the long-term roadmap of our business.
6. Provides expert guidance on complex system architecture and recommends solutions in alignment with systems engineering best practices.
7. To produce and follow agreed design and implementation methodologies and to maintain documentation in line with the agreed working practices.
8. To liaise with internal, external and third-party component suppliers.
9. To support all teams (internal and external) in understanding the design, build and operational impacts of cloud automation and CICD
10. To support internal teams in the use of all custom tooling developed for service development and CICD implementation
11. To lead on cloud service and automation specific issues or incidents, proactively working to identify the root cause and propose solution(s) and providing appropriate design documentation to ensure lessons learned are taken up to minimise impact in any future incident.
12. Mentors and coaches experienced professionals to develop current and future team capabilities and ensure performance
13. Leads the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to improve the cloud engineering team processes
The skills you'll need
14. Extensive/proven experience in software engineering and CI/CD automation.
15. Extensive/proven experience of agile, Devops working environment
16. Extensive/proven experience in using IaC tooling such as Terraform and Cloud Formation
17. Extensive/proven experience in design and implementation using AWS services and networking. In-depth technical knowledge of and extensive experience in developing distributed application services.
18. Experienced practitioner of software engineering, application and systems engineering.
19. API design and implementation using OpenAPI specification language
20. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) design, implementation and maintenance.
21. Big picture/Platform thinking and ability to see how parts interact with the whole.
22. Knowledge of IT governance and operations.
23. Ability to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may need to understand.
24. Ability to influence technology strategies to meet unit and business ambitions.
