Job Advert – Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer \n\n Client: Construction company\n Job Title: Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer\n Start Date: ASAP\n Contract: Permanent\n Location: Gateshead (Flexible/Hybrid)\n Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience)\n\n About the Role: Our client are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer / Senior Civil Engineer to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary consultancy in Gateshead. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional looking to advance their career within a team that delivers Civil, Structural, Architectural, and Geo-Environmental Engineering services.\n The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in running projects, particularly in residential housing developments of various sizes. You will be responsible for managing projects from planning and feasibility through to detailed design, tender, and construction phases.
The role also involves liaising with statutory authorities to gain design approvals.\n \nKey Responsibilities:\nLead and manage civil engineering projects from initial planning to final handover.\nPrepare Flood Risk Assessment and Drainage Strategy Reports.\nDesign roads, sewers, plot drainage, and site levels, identifying retaining walls and earthworks.\nProduce high-quality technical drawings for project submissions.\nCollaborate with highways, water authorities, and LLFAs for compliant design approvals (e.g., S38 and S104).\nAttend project meetings and engage with clients, stakeholders, and sub-consultants.\nMentor junior team members and support their professional growth.\nMaintain knowledge of industry standards and software (e.g., MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civils 3D).Essential Skills & Experience:\n6 – 10 years of civil engineering experience.\nHNC in Civil Engineering (minimum qualification).\nExperience in residential development projects.\nProficient in civil engineering design software (MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, Civils 3D).\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nKnowledge of UK planning procedures and design codes (e.g., Manual for Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges).\nFull UK driving licence.Benefits:\nCompetitive salary.\nHybrid working available.\n25 days of holiday (increasing with length of service).\nCycle-to-Work Scheme.\nSupport for achieving Chartership if not already Chartered.\nFamily-friendly policies and flexible working arrangements.\nIf interested or have any questions, please feel free to get in touch on (phone number removed) or email Amy Dhawan at (url removed)
