Please note this job is a temporary role in the first instance for 6 months. Interprofessional Education is 'occasions when two or more professions learn with, from and about each other to improve collaboration and the quality of care and services' (CAIPE, The Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Sciences' (FHSBS) IPE Strategy aims to provide innovative and multidimensional learning opportunities through a scaffolded 'collaborative curriculum' where students will develop their knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviours by engaging in authentic interprofessional learning activities such as workshops, groupwork and online activities. The 12 health and social care programmes within the IPE 'collaborative curriculum' have a common learning outcome at each academic level to ensure IPE is assessed in theory as well as in practice. IPE aims to link theory to practice, ensuring students become practitioners who can develop effective interprofessional relationships to deliver high quality care through collaborative practice. Student IPE Champions will work collaboratively with the IPE Lead within and across courses in FHSBS as IPE advocates – promoting and co-delivering elements of the Faculty IPE 'collaborative curriculum'. This role is ideal for a motivated undergraduate student passionate about collaborative learning, healthcare education, and enhancing student engagement across professions.

Duties and responsibilities

* The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Faculty Lead for IPE.

* The post holder will be responsible and accountable for ensuring all employment legislative requirements are adhered to including equality and diversity and health and safety issues

Promotion and Advocacy

* Act as an ambassador for Interprofessional Education (IPE) within and across health and social care programmes.

* Promote awareness of the Faculty's IPE Strategy and collaborative curriculum among peers.

* Encourage student engagement in IPE activities through communication channels, events, and peer networks.

Collaboration and Communication

* Work with the Faculty Lead for IPE to co-develop student-friendly materials and messaging

* Work collaboratively with the IPE Lead to support the planning of interprofessional learning activities.

* Contribute to the development of inclusive and authentic learning environments that reflect real-world collaborative practice

* Liaise with student societies, course representatives, and academic departments to encourage participation in IPE activities

Event Support

* Co-facilitate workshops, group activities, and online sessions that promote learning with, from and about other professions.

* Support logistics and student engagement during IPE events

Feedback and Improvement

* Gather and relay student feedback on IPE activities to inform ongoing collaborative curriculum development

* Contribute ideas for improving student involvement and the visibility of IPE across the Faculty

Student Engagement and Peer Support

* Serve as a point of contact for students interested in IPE opportunities

* Encourage reflective practice and peer discussion around interprofessional collaboration

* Help identify barriers to student participation in IPE and suggest improvements

Skills and experience

Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student within the Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Sciences on one of the following courses:

* Midwifery

* Paramedic Science

* Occupational Therapy

* Physiotherapy

* Podiatry

* Nursing (all fields)

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Interest in collaborative learning and interprofessional practice

Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent time management skills

Ability to adapt to technological advances in the workplace

Integrity and professionalism, demonstrating a commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and the University's values of inclusivity, trust, sustainability and aspiration

Additional information

That the candidate has:

Experience in student leadership or peer mentoring

Familiarity with IPE principles or previous participation in IPE activities

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: £12.60 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
