Maintenance Person
£14.50 an hour

Basic Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour
This role is Monday - Friday with no weekend working.
Our Home provides accommodation and personal care for people over the age of 65, some of whom are living with dementia or physical health needs. The Maintenance Person will provide routine maintenance services and repair work within the care home. Safe, reliable facilities are essential to our residents' individual well-being.
About you:
You will have good interpersonal skills and will enjoy getting to know our residents. You'll have a keen eye for detail whilst providing a responsive approach to the various maintenance needs of the care home. Above all else, you will be skilled at painting and decorating. You'll have a good general knowledge of building and mechanical services and experience of a trade such as electrical work, carpentry, or plumbing.
You are used to keeping records and are happy to work without immediate supervision and are flexible with a can-do attitude.
The job:
Responsibilities:
* Carrying out repairs to buildings and grounds within the post holder's capabilities.
* Monitoring the heating system.
* To check the maintenance log and to attend to any faults listed and replace light bulbs.
* Assist in the movement of equipment and furniture in the home as maybe deemed necessary.
* Undertake redecoration and touching up paintwork as necessary.
* Clear minor blockages to waste pipes and guttering.
* Grit the footpaths when icy and sweep up wet leaves from footpaths.
* Report any defects that require outside contractors to attend the site to the Home Manager.
* Assist in routine testing of fire alarms and emergency lighting systems.
* General upkeep of the exterior and the grounds, including cutting the lawn and hedge.
* Monthly checking and recording of maintenance audits using appropriate documentation.
* Undertake statutory training as required, including Health and Safety etc.
* Ensure storage areas and outside sheds are kept tidy and secure and that emergency exits are free from obstruction in conjunction with the Home Manager.
* Identify all health & safety equipment and ensure they are kept in full working order.
* To be aware of emergency procedures, including fire precautions and drill.
* In conjunction with other members of staff, ensure that good communications with residents, relatives and other visitors are maintained.
* Identify and solve everyday job-based problems in liaison with Home Manager.
