Thames Hospice is an independent hospice at Bray Lake in Maidenhead with stunning views over the lake and state of the art facilities and is currently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC.
We have an opportunity for someone to join our Children and Family Support Team to provide pre and post bereavement support to children, young people, and families where a parent ( or primary carer) has a life limiting condition or has died. Support sessions may take place in one-to-one, family and group settings at the hospice, at home and in schools.
This role is fixed-term and funded by ‘BBC Children in Need’ until April 2026.
You will need:
Certificate, diploma or degree in healthcare, education, or social work to support this role
Experience of working with children, young people, and families (e.g. healthcare, school, charity, social work, youth work, children/family centre, etc)
Experience of working with bereavement or loss providing support
Experience of working with groups or families
Experience of working creatively and therapeutically with children and young people (e.g. Art, Play, Drama, Music Therapy, etc)
Good IT skills (Microsoft Suite, databases)
Good communication skills, adapting style to suit the audience
Ability to develop respectful, effective and support relationships with manager and colleagues
Able to quickly build a rapport and establish professional relationships with others, based on trust and understanding
