About The Business Unit
Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors. APD provides services to projects up to £20bn in scale and complexity, through disciplines including programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.
Role overview
Owing to the expansion of our Defence portfolio we have a unique opportunity for Quantity Surveyors to join our fast-growing teams in Scotland. This is a chance to be involved in some of the most complex and challenging projects in the UK today. We are looking to attract the finest talent to mobilise for key opportunities across a broad portfolio of Defence programmes. Our teams deliver a range of projects from complex infrastructure upgrades to carbon reduction initiatives, with experience across energy including nuclear, renewables, hydro, thermal, electricity and gas.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Support and advise the Project Manager in fulfilling all contractual obligations, ensuring contracts terms are met, managing risks, and addressing compliance requirements.
* Produce detailed cost plans to estimate and allocate resources, ensuring the project stays within budget and meets financial targets.
* Actively promote and implement value engineering.
* Review, appraise, and report on main contract and sub-contract tenders, evaluating bids and providing recommendations to decision-makers.
Candidate specification
Essential
* Chartered QS MRICS or Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) working towards chartered status (MRICS).
* Proven skills and experience delivering complex infrastructure schemes within a Cost Consultancy/Main Contractor.
* Flexibility in work location and travel.
* Working knowledge and experience with NEC Contracts.
* Experience in using CEMAR.
* Ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and colleagues.
