The University of Essex offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Officer in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity to work on a collaborative project with LAMAD LLC aiming to establish software engineering principles that enable the design, development and deployment of secure and trustworthy AI systems.
The Institute for Analytics and Data Science (IADS) was created in July 2014 to bring together all the University's expertise and work in analytics and data science. IADS research utilises new forms of data and advanced analytic techniques to tackle social challenges, engage with business and the wider non-academic community, is international in outlook and scope, and multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary by nature.
For this post, we are interested in attracting a researcher working on the intersection of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to establish software engineering principles that enable the design, development and deployment of secure and trustworthy AI systems. Some areas of interest include (but not limited to)
* Cybersecurity data science - with focus on (but not limited to) AI, machine learning and data analytics for cybersecurity risk management, threat modelling and data protection.
* Intelligent data security engineering - with focus on (but not limited to) development of novel methodologies and techniques to improve privacy by design and security by design, AI enabled model-based security engineering.
* Threat modelling and privacy protection for AI and data science - with a focus on (but not limited to) adversarial attacks on machine learning, machine learning facilitated adversarial mechanisms and federated learning.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity or a related area or be close to completion of PhD. They will have a publication record appropriate for their experience and will be able to demonstrate evidence of potential to develop an internationally leading profile in their field. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also essential for the post.
