About The Role
As an Assistant Management Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the finance function by ensuring accurate financial reporting across the business. You will be responsible for posting journals, completing balance sheet reconciliations and managing recharges, helping to maintain strong financial control and integrity. Working as part of a collaborative finance team, you will contribute to month‑end processes, support management reporting, and help drive continuous improvement in financial processes across OCS. This permanent, full‑time position will be based in our Ipswich office on a hybrid basis.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and post accurate and timely journals, including accruals, prepayments and adjustments
* Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any variances
* Manage inter‑business unit recharges, ensuring costs are allocated accurately and in a timely manner
* Support the month‑end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is reliable
* Assist in the preparation of management accounts and reporting packs
* Work with stakeholders across the business to ensure financial information is understood and correctly applied
* Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controls and efficiencies
* Support audits by providing documentation and responding to queries where required
Qualifications
* Experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within a fast‑paced commercial environment
* Strong understanding of journals, reconciliations, and financial controls
* Experience handling intercompany transactions or recharges
* Studying towards a professional qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or looking to progress your career in accountancy
* Good analytical skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies
* Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
* Good working knowledge of Excel and finance systems
Desirable
* Experience working in a multi‑entity or multi‑business unit environment
* Exposure to month‑end reporting processes within a larger organisation
