An opportunity has arisen within the Downing People team to manage recruitment across the firm. This is a new role, and is offered on a
contract basis initially
. Its purpose is to improve the hiring process while reducing agency spend.
This is not a high volume role.
Vacancies will vary between 5 and 20 at any one time. The focus is on providing a comprehensive service to hiring managers and creating a first class experience for candidates.
The following are essential for the successful candidate:
* Experience of working in-house
* Experience of direct hiring for professional roles across a small to mid-sized firm
* Experience of setting up and developing processes from scratch and being the subject matter expert
* Experience of working closely with hiring managers, and able to build effective working relationships by listening to their needs and offering well thought out solutions
* A calm, confident and enthusiastic demeanor
The following is preferred:
* Experience of working as part of a small HR team
* Experience of working in the financial services or energy industry

Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the full recruitment lifecycle: direct sourcing, screening and assessment, interviewing, and offer negotiation
* Manage the administrative aspects of the role, such as downloading applications and tracking progress
* Manage agency terms and relationships as required
* Provide expert guidance and support to hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
* Manage the recruitment approval workflow to ensure timely and compliant hiring decisions
* Coordinate and facilitate the use of assessment tools to support objective candidate evaluation
* Maintain and update recruitment materials, templates, and collateral to ensure consistency and professionalism
* Lead initiatives to position Downing as an employer of choice within financial services
* Champion a positive, inclusive, and engaging candidate journey from application to onboarding
* Collaborate with marketing to align recruitment messaging with brand values
* Ensure all recruitment activities comply with employment legislation and internal policies

About the team
The people team is a team of six. We pride ourselves on building strong working relationships, both within the people team and with our stakeholders, delivering a first-class service, and working collaboratively.
We operate across the full employee lifecycle including attraction, recruitment, retention, payroll and reward, talent development and offboarding.
We provide a supportive and efficient service to all Downing employees, whilst working in partnership with ExCo, Partners and Heads of Department to provide effective and commercial support and advice.

Hybrid working
Downing operates a hybrid working policy whereby employees are expected to work from the office for a minimum of 3 days each week. If specific days are required in the office, this will be communicated during the interview process.
