Position: Senior Administrator – Medical Secretary (Medical Secretary) at NHS Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust.
Location: Orca House, Link Road Court, York, YO10 3JB.
Contract: Permanent, part‑time 15 hours per week (Mon & Tues 9 am‑5 pm).
Salary: £27,485 to £30,162 per annum pro rata.
Band: 4 (Agenda for Change).

Job Summary
Part‑time (15 hours) medical secretary role within the North Yorkshire and York Eating Disorder Service for children and young people. You will support consultants, junior medical staff and advanced practitioners, and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide excellent admin support, including dictation, diary management, minute taking and confidential data entry.
Eligibility
You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.
Main Duties
* Provide comprehensive admin support to the consultant and medical team, including digital dictation or copy typing of patient letters, diary management and minute taking.
* Manage confidential and sensitive information on Trust systems accurately and timely.
* Support the multidisciplinary team by coordinating meetings and preparing reports.
* Supervise and train other admin staff where required.
* Assist with quality improvement initiatives and service development.
Qualifications
* BTEC Diploma/Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Management or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards Level 5 within an agreed timescale.
* IT qualification such as ECDL or equivalent.
* Functional skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 or O Level (Grade C and above) / GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4‑9).
Experience
* Implementing and maintaining admin systems and processes.
* Leading, supervising and training staff on administrative procedures.
* Significant experience of working in an administrative environment including digital audio typing, Microsoft Office, diary management, filing, and data extraction.
* Co‑ordinating meetings and associated duties.
* Extracting data and report preparation.
* Participation in service and quality improvement initiatives.
* Advanced typing skills and accuracy.
Knowledge
* Understanding of data protection and confidentiality procedures.
* Sound understanding of quality improvement initiatives.
* Ability to organise and meet deadlines using delegation.
* Problem solving and developing alternative procedures.
