7.5T Driver Labourer x 2 - Mid and East Antrim Borough Council - Larne An exciting opportunity is available for experienced 7.5t Drivers to join the operational services team at Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. Based in Larne, this role involves driving and operating a variety of council vehicles, including those used for refuse collection, recycling, street cleansing, and other essential services. About the role:
1. £14.84 per hour
2. 2 positions available
3. Tuesday - Friday
4. 37 hour a week
5. Duration: 3 months with a possible extension
Duties:
6. Carry out pre-use and routine checks before driving any vehicle, completing and returning a vehicle pre-use check report to the postholder’s line managers as instructed.
7. Drive allocated vehicle in accordance with appropriate licence as directed and be responsible for the vehicle including the use of analogue/digital Tachograph in compliance with the Road Traffic Regulations (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 as amended and all other Transport related legislation.
8. Ensure the safety of Council employees and the general public by carrying out an assessment of driving conditions and adopting safe methods of working on an ongoing basis, particularly during periods of severe weather.
9. Operate and be responsible for council plant, tools and equipment in general, including but not limited to the safe use of appropriate mechanical aids, equipment and tools etc. provided to perform the relevant function e.g. clearing up spillages, safe collection and waste disposal, ensuring they are kept in good condition at all times.
10. Manually remove obstructions from the path of the sweeping equipment which could damage the mechanism of the machine, litter picking as necessary with the designated team.
11. Ensure on-board systems including weighing, safety devices, in-cab devices, telematics and communication systems are fully operational and used in accordance with operational procedures.
Criteria:
12. Valid Category C1 Driving Licence
13. Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card
14. A minimum of one years’ continuous LGV driving experience (any penalty points active on the driving licence must be declared along with the relevant code. These will then be assessed for relevance of the duties of the post
Desirable Criteria:
15. One year's previous experience of working in a waste environment
16. Experience driving a left hand drive vehicle
17. A minimum of two years' continuous driving experience
