Teaching Assistant – SEMH School (Day-to-Day Cover)
Location: Hackney
Pay: £90 to £95 per day
Contract: Flexible day cover, immediate start
If you’re calm under pressure and great at connecting with young people who need a bit of extra understanding, an SEMH school in Hackney is looking for day-to-day Teaching Assistant cover. This is hands-on, meaningful work that makes a real difference every single day.

What the role looks like
1. Supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
2. Helping young people regulate, reset, and engage positively
3. Using trauma-informed and de-escalation strategies
4. Working closely with teachers, mentors, and behaviour teams
5. Bringing consistency, empathy, and a reassuring presence
We’d love to hear from you if you have
6. Experience in SEMH, PRUs, youth work, mentoring, or behaviour support
7. A calm, steady approach when the day gets challenging
8. Strong communication skills and a warm, grounded manner
9. A genuine desire to support young people who need adults they can rely on
