Contract Opportunity: Java Backend Engineer
London (Hybrid – 2 days onsite)

We’re hiring a Java Backend Engineer for a large-scale banking programme based in London. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on development and working within established microservices environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Building and enhancing backend services using Java & Spring Boot
* Developing and integrating RESTful APIs
* Working as part of a collaborative agile team to deliver features end-to-end
* Troubleshooting, debugging, and supporting production deployments
What You’ll Bring
* Strong hands-on experience with Java (9+)
* Proven expertise in Spring Boot / Spring Framework
* Experience with REST APIs and microservices architectures
* Ability to work effectively within existing systems and standards
Bonus Experience
* Previous banking / financial services background (ex-LBG a plus)
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, cloud platforms
* Exposure to event-driven systems
Key Details
* Hybrid working: minimum 2 days per week in London office
* Candidates should be available to start within 2 weeks
* Full background verification (BGV) required, including DBS, credit, employment, education, and HMRC checks
