Locally Employed Doctor Anaesthetics and ITU (CT1 equivalent post)

Job responsibilities
* Provide pre‑, peri‑, and post‑operative management of surgical patients.
* Assist in patient care within the ICU and support resuscitation calls.
* Work on the on‑call rotas covering CEPOD, Intensive Care, Theatre and ITU, ensuring EWTD compliance.
* Maintain a logbook and electronic record of learning experiences, including multisource feedback.
* Participate in quality improvement projects, research, and clinical governance activities.
* Liaise with other medical and service departments, and with other hospitals.
* Involvement in teaching medical students, nurses and other paramedical staff in speciality and special interest areas.
Person Specification
Experience / Qualifications
* Completed at least two years of Foundation training (FY1 & FY2).
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
* Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent.
* Minimum 3 months experience in ITU / Anaesthetics in the UK.
Clinical Skills and Experience
* Range of clinical knowledge and skills in anaesthesia and ICU care.
* Understanding of clinical risk management.
Knowledge
* Broad experience in and outside specialty.
Organisation and Planning
* Experience working in multi‑professional teams.
* Understanding of NHS Clinical governance and resource constraints.
* Evidenced managerial skills: achievements and courses attended.
Teaching Skills
* Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching.
* Recognised teaching qualification.
Academic and Research
* Evidence of participation in audit, research experience and publications.
* Prizes and honours.
* Appropriate progression of career to date.
Personal Attributes
* Good communication skills, both oral and written.
