Job Overview
Permanent, Full‑Time (10PAs) – an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work in Hillingdon Urgent Care Team with a special interest in Paediatric Liaison.
Salary and Benefits: £20,000 gross remuneration (RRP) payable in two instalments, Golden Hello of £20,000, relocation allowance up to £8,000, generous annual and study leave, NHS pension scheme, staff discounts including on new car purchases and leases.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support and accurate record‑keeping for patient care.
* Maintain contemporary medical notes in line with Trust policy.
* Participate in service and business planning activities across the locality.
* Attend internal CPD activities, monthly consultant meetings and other professional meetings.
* Maintain professional registration with GMC, MHA Section 12(2), and AC approval.
* Take part in annual job plan reviews and share the medical contribution to service management.
* Ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
Clinical & Management Duties
* Lead the urgent care team, providing medical input to weekly review meetings.
* Perform psychiatric assessments and support emergency work at Hillingdon Hospital.
* Assist with 7‑day follow‑ups, ward reviews, and early discharge discussions.
* Drive development of the Tier 3.5 Urgent Care Outreach Service.
* Contribute to senior management meetings for CAMHS and the crisis pathway.
* Develop joint crisis pathways and protocols with the acute hospital.
* Participate in interface meetings with the emergency department and attend bed‑escalation meetings.
* Provide clinical supervision to psychiatry trainees and speciality doctors.
* Lead interface working between the urgent care team and other CAMHS sub‑teams and ACTS.
* Ensure continuity of consultant input for young people admitted to paediatric and medical wards and act as responsible clinician when required.
* Offer paediatric liaison sessions, collaborate on a business case for a paediatric liaison service, and deliver teaching to acute hospital staff, CAMHS colleagues, trainees, and medical students.
* Facilitate monthly consultation groups with the out‑of‑hours team and other UCT consultants.
* Support the team lead in producing activity reports and presentations for senior management and commissioners, including the North West London Provider Collaborative and CNWL CAMHS Central Care Quality and Performance Management Group.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full registration with GMC with a licence to practice.
* MHA Section 12 approval.
* Approved Clinician status or commitment to obtain it.
* Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
* Listed on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry, or eligible to register within six months of interview.
* Desirable: Higher degree or further qualifications relevant to children and adolescents; listed on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Experience and Training
* Training in psychiatric inpatient management of children and adolescents.
* Experience assessing and managing risk in complex patients in acute and community settings.
* Competence in child and adolescent psychopharmacology and non‑medication therapeutic approaches.
* Evidence‑based practice and safeguarding framework experience.
* Multi‑disciplinary teaching and leadership experience within a multidisciplinary team.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Desirable: Approved training in CBT, DBT or family therapy; paediatric experience and paediatric liaison experience; publications in psychiatry; experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds; proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
