Production Supervisor
To assist the Production Manager in the efficient operation of an assigned area, ensuring targets for production, quality, cost, delivery, technical standards, safety, and human resources are met. The role is responsible for the day-to-day management of people within production to meet customer requirements and company objectives.
The position requires supporting and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, quality and environmental standards, and all other relevant company policies and procedures.
* Consistently promote high standards through personal example, ensuring all team members understand the standards and behaviours expected of them.
* Work closely with other Shift Supervisors to ensure production handovers are clear, structured and effective communication tools.
* Maintain staffing levels by recruiting, selecting and training employees, and by supporting their ongoing development and growth.
* Deliver the production plan by scheduling and allocating personnel, setting priorities, monitoring progress, adjusting schedules where necessary, resolving issues, and reporting shift performance results.
* Maintain quality standards by establishing and enforcing company procedures and requirements.
* Maintain a safe and clean working environment through 6S principles, ensuring staff are trained and compliant in the use of control measures, equipment and resources in line with company policies and procedures.
* Understand ISOH requirements and oversee and/or conduct risk assessments within the designated area.
* Manage, develop, appraise and motivate employees, ensuring effective verbal and written communication at all times.
* Monitor and manage stock levels of raw materials and consumables.
* Act as the main point of contact in the absence of the Production Manager, making appropriate decisions in line with the company reporting structure.
* Implement and monitor absence control procedures to maintain high attendance levels and proactively manage employee wellbeing.
* Contribute to the company’s continuous improvement strategy to support operational excellence and future growth.
* Address initial personnel matters on shift in accordance with company policy.
* Provide feedback to the management team, sharing ideas to improve operations and recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to optimise performance and enhance quality in line with customer requirements.
Production Supervisor's Specific Requirements
* Ensure efficiency across all sub-assembly areas.
* Maintain throughput and operational efficiency within the print room.
* Induct new employees and temporary workers in line with company policy.
* Monitor temporary staffing levels to ensure they align with production demand.
* Monitor and report machine utilisation, working closely with the Production Planner to achieve and maintain a minimum of 80% utilisation.
* Conduct contractor safety inductions and issue permits to work, ensuring Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) are in place prior to commencement of work.
* Produce and collate risk assessments, safe systems of work and work instructions in accordance with company policy.
* Hold a valid First Aid qualification (St John Ambulance or equivalent).
Production Supervisor's Benefits & Hours of Work
Salary: £32k, Hours of work: 6:30AM - 3:00PM and 2:00PM - 10:00PM Mon to Fri, 23 days holidays plus BH, EAP, Life Assurance & Pension
