Procurement and Supply Chain Planner
Location: Wednesbury, On-site, Monday-Friday (9am-5pm)
Salary: Up to £45,000 plus benefits
Reports to: Head of Procurement
Our client is looking for a motivated and detail-driven Procurement and Supply Chain Planner to join their growing team. This is a key role responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and timely supply of direct materials across two operational sites.
You will work closely with suppliers, hauliers, production, planning, and procurement to maintain strong supply performance and excellent contract execution.
This position offers real variety-from supplier engagement and scheduling support to problem-solving, reporting, and acting as a trusted deputy to the Head of Procurement.
The Role
As Procurement and Supply Chain Planner, you will build strong relationships with suppliers, lead regular weekly reviews, and ensure their delivery performance supports operational needs. You will support the schedulers with daily tasks, provide guidance and training, and help maintain accurate SOPs and planning data.
You will also manage call-offs, monitor contract balances, support issue resolution, and ensure supply security across both sites.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong relationships with bulk oil suppliers through regular calls and Teams meetings.
Support and train the Bulk Oil Scheduling team, providing holiday cover when required.
Manage call-offs based on contract positions, pricing, and forecasted demand to ensure smooth execution.
Maintain accurate planning sheets, SOPs, delivery uploads, and weekly contract balance reports.
Identify risks to contract execution early and work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve them.
Verify 3rd-party toll-packed volumes and ensure weekly capacity is balanced.
Lead weekly supplier calls covering volumes, forecasts, shipping updates, and performance.
Resolve administrative issues such as paperwork errors, invoice queries, or demurrage charges.
Act as key point of contact between suppliers, hauliers, planning, production, and technical teams.
Obtain quotes for new routes or transport lanes and support procurement decisions.
Produce monthly KPI reports and share insights on volumes, planning, and delivery performance with management.
Assist the Head of Procurement and act as a backup when required.
