Location: Northwest (with opportunities to work on projects across the region)
Employment Type: PAYE or Freelance
Reporting To: Senior Quantity Surveyors or Commercial Director
We are seeking an Assistant/Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join our growing consultancy, supporting significant projects in and around the Northwest. This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-career professional eager to develop their skills and build a career in the construction industry.

The Role:
As an Assistant/Graduate Quantity Surveyor, you will:
 * Support the preparation of interim payment applications.
 * Identify events and issue notices for variations/compensation events.
 * Evaluate and agree variations/compensation events.
 * Procure sub-contractors and manage their accounts, payment certificates, and final agreements.
 * Conduct on-site measurements and gain an understanding of construction processes.
 * Ensure adequate contemporary records are maintained.
 * Perform material and plant reconciliations.
 * Provide accurate costing data and forecasts for inclusion in cost and value reconciliations.
 * Continue professional development with supported enrollment in RICS.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience:
 * Tier 1 Contractor or large Tier 2 involved in Infrastructure activities.
 * Worked independently on projects or closely with a Senior QS.
 * 2-3 years post-graduate experience.
 * Basic understanding of contractual terms and different types of contracts.
 * Basic understanding of cost and value reconciliations.
 * Knowledge of supply chain procurement and tender evaluations.
 * Familiarity with construction project lifecycle (tender to final account).
 * Understanding of basic construction claims procedures (e.g., adjudication).
Skills/Qualifications:
 * BSc in Quantity Surveying.
 * Commenced membership with RICS or ICES.
 * Current CSCS card.
 * Strong communication and developing negotiation skills.
 * Well-presented and articulate.
 * Own transport and valid driving license.
 * Willingness to work away up to 2 nights/week – ESSENTIAL
Salary & Benefits (PAYE):
Salary: £30,000 – £40,000 per annum.
Bonus: Up to 10% of salary (50% company performance, 50% individual performance).
Car/Allowance: £2,500 – £3,500 per annum + £0.35/mile.
Pension: 8% employer contribution (staff contribute 1-8%).
Healthcare: Individual cover (family cover when company turnover hits £5M).
Holidays: 28 days plus Bank Holidays (no requirement to use leave for 2-3 days over Christmas).
