About the Role
As an Alternative Provision Learning Coach, your primary role will be to support learners across various groups, including but not limited to those on the 14-19 provision pathways, fostering their academic, personal, and social development. You will assist during both structured sessions and unstructured times, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for engagement and growth.
Responsibilities
Welsh language skills are essential. Applicants with Welsh language skills at an Intermediate to Proficiency level are welcome to apply. Please refer to the attached Welsh Language Competency Framework for guidance. This post is split between Rhondda and Ystrad Mynach Campus.
Safeguarding and Welfare
All staff employed at Coleg yCymoedd have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of learners, and all those working at the College are expected to uphold this commitment. As part of our safer recruitment processes, all new starters must successfully complete the required pre‑employment checks prior to commencing employment. This includes an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. For roles that involve direct interaction with learners, registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is also a mandatory requirement.
Diversity and Inclusion
We are a values‑driven organisation committed to employing a diverse workforce and fostering an inclusive environment where colleagues are respected and supported to be themselves. We treat every individual with dignity, fairness, and respect.
As a Disability Confident Leader, we actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and communities, particularly in relation to age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion and/or belief. We are committed to removing barriers and making our recruitment processes as inclusive and accessible as possible.
Language
We welcome applications in both Welsh and English. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than those submitted in English. If you are a Welsh speaker or learner, we would be delighted to receive your application.
Location
Roles at Coleg yCymoedd are campus‑based to support teaching, learner experience, and service delivery.

Candidates or employees with accessibility or reasonable adjustment needs are encouraged to discuss these with the People & Culture team.
