Transport Optimisation Manager

This is an excellent opportunity to join a large European organisation in a new Transport Optimisation & Planning Manager appointment, acting as the main contact across the group for logistics contracts supporting business unit directors with national planning and operations decisions.
You will act as a key and effective member of the Central Logistics team, driving efficiencies, continuous KPI improvement, providing analysis, data and commercial support with telematics and tracking systems to plan UK road, Sea & Rail freight throughout the UK / European regions.

Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee resources, including strategies for building and updating fleets, hiring, training, keeping, and meeting customer demand based on set performance goals.
* Financial – Responsible for ensuring agreed targets are met within the P&L (overall revenue, logistics earnings / costings, client & team management
• Act as main point of contact on a national level to develop and exceed customer expectations.
• Sales maximisation – Responsible for continual sales maximisation by means of regular contact with all customers.
* Use your knowledge of transport operations, to optimise routes, improve delivery times, and ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of goods between distribution centres and customer sites
• Provide operational solutions that exceed customer expectations based on set performance goals, including managing fleets and drivers at all locations, handling deliveries, optimising routes between depots, and managing returns throughout the UK, while also offering additional services to meet budget goals.
* Effectively communicate and distribute the strategic plan, which is divided into specific, measurable tasks at the site level, to ensure the team understands their roles in achieving the broader strategy and are motivated to perform their tasks with purpose.
* Facilitate the natural expansion of the business by conducting Supply Chain Mapping analyses and developing Joint Account Plans, and by supporting the design and development of solutions for new business ventures aimed at achieving sustainable growth.
* Communicate with and influence regional teams and head office colleagues with respect to cost and planning
Person Specification: -
· Previous experience of working within a supply chain logistics environment
· Previous experience of FMCG multi customer operation
· Good analytical and numerical skills
· Good knowledge of Microsoft / Excel applications / IT
