North Brink Practice is seeking registered nurses to join the team. You do not need to be experienced in practice nursing or primary care as a full training programme is offered. Newly qualified nurses will be considered.
The role is full-time and will include evening and weekend working on a varied rotation.
Main duties of the job
Practice Nursing with a difference. In response to rising demand, nurse-led care is at the heart of our service. Nurses work in acute clinics to assess healthcare needs, develop or deliver care/treatment plans, and deliver holistic care to patients.
All clinics are supported and supervised by a GP, with mentorship from senior/experienced nurses and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. North Brink provides continuous learning opportunities and supports ongoing education and development to meet personal and practice needs.
Responsibilities
* Perform autonomous nursing duties in both independent and collaborative settings to assess, diagnose and treat patients with acute, non-acute and chronic conditions; initiate referrals as appropriate
* Provide general nursing care to the practice population including assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation
* Wound care (assessment and management)
* Adult and childhood immunisations
* Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations including home visits to housebound patients
* ECGs
* Pathology sample collection and sending to pathology when required
* Cervical screening
* Health education and promotion
* Trial and adopt new working methods to manage rising demand, including triage and telephone/remote consultations
* Provide education and training to other staff and students; lead in teamwork and sharing best practice
* Contribute to developing the North Brink Practice for patient benefit
Clinical responsibilities
* Undertake clinical nursing practice delivering holistic care in primary care services
* Assess patients with GP support after training, perform history taking and examinations, formulate differential diagnoses and manage treatment plans with appropriate follow-up
* Arrange hospital admission when required
* Telephone triage and telephone advice calls
* Maintain accurate records in SystmOne
Person specification
Qualifications
* Essential: RGN; Conversant with NMC guidelines
* Desirable: Family planning certificate; V300 Prescribing
Skills/Attributes
* Absolute confidentiality; effective organisation and prioritisation
* Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to work autonomously
* Excellent time management; IT skills; willingness to learn
* Understanding of SystmOne is desirable
Experience
* Essential: Newly qualified or experienced; working in line with NMC codes
* Desirable: Minor illness/injuries experience; Immunisations (childhood); Women’s health; Chronic disease management; Treatment room duties; Wound care/leg ulcer management
Other requirements
* Good attendance and timekeeping; available to work evenings and weekends if required
* Full driving licence with no restrictions; own transport for business use
* Commitment to professional development and annual appraisal
