Job Overview
The community paediatric department has 2 office bases in Flintshire and Wrexham. We are a busy team focused on delivering top-quality care to children and young people. Our services include child development centres in each local authority, with partnerships across Health, Education, and Social Services. We have strong relationships with nursing, acute services, and tertiary centres like Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool, as well as with Conwy and Denbighshire local authorities. The department is renowned for excellent training for trainees and medical students.
Candidates interested in safeguarding, adoption, or fostering can develop these areas within our team.
This post is for substantive consultants in community paediatrics, up to 15 sessions (full-time 10 sessions and part-time options considered). Suitable for clinicians with appropriate registration or impending registration on the Specialist Register.
Main duties include:
* Managing community paediatric services within Wrexham, with potential cross-county work in Flintshire, subject to prior agreement.
* Participating in clinical governance and supporting undergraduate and postgraduate training.
* Maintaining relevant skills through CPD and annual appraisal.
* Providing clinical supervision to other community paediatricians and trainees.
* Attending children’s management meetings for the service.

Person Specification
Qualifications:
* Full GMC registration
* RCPCH membership
* CCT in general paediatrics or equivalent / CESR-CP
* MRCPCH or equivalent
* Level 3 Safeguarding Training
* BLS Training
Experience:
* At least two years of general paediatric experience at specialist registrar level, with subspecialty training in community child health, disability, and child protection.
* Five years of Higher Specialist Training, including three in Community Paediatrics.
Skills:
* Excellent communication skills and ability to lead multidisciplinary teams.
* Good computing skills (ECDL or equivalent) desirable.
Additional areas of interest:
* Experience in child mental health, public health, neurology, epilepsy, or palliative care is desirable.
* Leadership in specific practice areas is advantageous.
