Job Description
* Translate documents and communications accurately between Japanese and English.
* Manage correspondence and communication in both Japanese and English.
* Act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders.
* Proofread English texts with a focus on linguistic nuance and precision
* Create and manage English language content for internal use
* Provide cultural and linguistic insights related to Japanese
* Evaluate both machine-generated and human translation data
* Collect and curate data for use in linguistic research and development
* Distinguish and communicate the unique features of various English dialects
* Analyse English texts for semantic clarity, grammatical accuracy, and stylistic quality
The Successful Applicant
A successful Interim Japanese Specialist should have:
* MA degree in linguistics, language or related field.
* Has at least 2 years of professional translation experience
* Deep understanding of Japanese language and cultural nuances
* Familiarity with various English dialects and their distinctions
* Fluent in American English, both written and spoken
* Strong analytical skills in morphology, syntax, grammar, and spelling
* Additional fluency in German, French, or Spanish is highly desirable
* Experience teaching English as a second language is a plus
* Background in language quality assurance and localisation is beneficial
