Rapid Personnel is seeking a VNA First Line Manager for a leading distribution company based in Didcot. In this role, you will oversee the VNA team, ensuring smooth and efficient warehouse operations. This position is pivotal to the distribution network, requiring a blend of hands-on leadership, operational management, strategic oversight, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, coach, and support the VNA team, including Team Leaders and Drivers, promoting high performance, engagement, and compliance with company standards.
* Plan, schedule, and monitor VNA operations on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to meet productivity targets, KPIs, and organisational goals.
* Work closely with internal teams and external partners to maintain smooth workflows and resolve operational issues.
* Analyse operational data and reports (using Excel, Plancise, etc.), identify trends, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
* Maintain accurate records for MHE licences and fleet management, ensuring compliance and up-to-date documentation.
* Drive change initiatives from planning to execution, embracing continuous improvement and challenging current processes.
* Manage employee activities including recruitment, appraisals, development plans, 1:1 meetings, and training, keeping accurate records.
* Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations, company policies, environmental standards, and internal audit requirements.
* Achievement of operational targets for throughput, accuracy, and productivity.
* Compliance with MHE licence and fleet record requirements.
* High team engagement, development, and retention.
* Effective implementation of process improvements.
* Strong collaboration across departments and with partners, evidenced by timely resolution of issues and positive stakeholder feedback.
Essential Experience:
* Proven leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations.
* Experience leading a large team of 20 plus individuals.
* Valid FLT and/or VNA licence with hands-on experience in managing or operating MHE equipment.
* Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
* Strong ability to build relationships with colleagues and external partners.
* Solid understanding of workplace Health & Safety and operational compliance.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with WMS systems (e.g., JDA) and/or SAP.
* Relevant logistics/warehousing qualifications (e.g., NVQ, CILT).
* Experience in supervising automated, high-density, or very narrow aisle warehouse operations.
Hours and Pay:
* 35 hour week - Monday – Friday 14:00-22:00
* £32,000 – £38,000 per year dependent on experience
