Fostering Social Worker
Due to retirement, the North Kent Fostering Support Team is looking to appoint a full-time Fostering Social Worker to provide high-quality supervision, support, and training to foster carers and their families across Swale, Medway, Gravesham, and Dartford.
You will support foster carers in understanding their child's behaviour and consider strategies to manage behaviour and maintain trusting relationships, with a strong focus on safeguarding and providing safe care within the foster family environment.
You will join an experienced team within a Fostering Service committed to enhancing support for carers, building their skills and knowledge to achieve positive outcomes and placement stability. Experience with children with disabilities would be beneficial but is not mandatory.
This is an exciting and challenging time in fostering, with initiatives like the Department of Education's program to improve recruitment and retention of foster carers, and the development of The Fostering Network Mockingbird Program to support fostering families and children.
This position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.
As a customer-facing role, the position requires command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for effective performance, in accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016). Standards are detailed in the Job Description/Person Specification.
