About The Role
We are seeking a flexible, committed, and enthusiastic Supply Teacher to work across a range of primary year groups in Plymouth. This is a key role providing cover for planned and unplanned staff absences, including sickness, training days, and other leave.
As a supply teacher, you will deliver high-quality teaching based on existing lesson plans and resources, ensuring a smooth continuation of learning.
You’ll be expected to step into various classroom environments, quickly build rapport with pupils, and manage behaviour in line with the school’s policies.
This role is ideal for teachers who enjoy variety, are highly adaptable, and thrive in dynamic settings.
We are looking for a passionate and adaptable Supply Teacher to join our team and support learning across Early Years, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2.
You'll step in when class teachers are absent, delivering engaging lessons, managing the classroom effectively, and ensuring continuity in pupils’ learning.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
1. Deliver pre-planned lessons or provide engaging learning activities when plans are unavailable.
2. Adapt teaching strategies to suit the needs of diverse learners, including SEND and EAL pupils.
3. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and achievement.
Classroom Management
4. Uphold high standards of behaviour in line with the school’s policy.
5. Build quick rapport with pupils and establish a calm, respectful classroom culture.
6. Supervise students during breaks or transitions as required.
✏️ Assessment & Feedback
7. Mark work (when appropriate) and leave clear notes for the class teacher.
8. Record any significant issues, behaviour incidents, or learning concerns.
9. Celebrate successes and support pupil progress during your time in class.
Communication & Collaboration
10. Liaise with support staff (TAs, SENCOs, phase leaders) to understand pupil needs.
11. Share updates and feedback with permanent staff to ensure smooth continuity.
12. Uphold confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
13. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
14. Experience in UK primary schools (EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2)
15. Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
16. Adaptable, confident, and calm under pressure
17. Clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
Desirable:
18. Experience teaching across multiple year groups
19. Familiarity with UK primary schemes (e.g. White Rose Maths, Read Write Inc.)
20. Experience supporting pupils with SEND or EAL
21. Availability at short notice or same-day bookings
